After the harvest, having tasted the fruits of their labor, and the celebrations that accompanied the hard work, Nakechichiok women’s group want to move on to the next level and be a sustainable enterprise producing fruit and vegetable for sale.

The meetings on opening a bank account, adult literacy education to empower them to understand basic "book keeping", and mixing of pesticides have been taking place in Nakechichok. The level of optimism among the women an inspiration to me,as Turkana Basin Institute (TBI) and Friends of Turkana continues to support them move to the next level with TBI being the first customer for the vegetables and fruits they produce.

A long lasting relationship being formed where research on innovative dry lands  food production taking place at Turkana Basin Institute and the results and techniques being adapted by many including Nakechichok Women’s group.
