Wednesday 20th April was yet another memorable occasion for the Ileret community and the community outreach program as TBI hosted the annual scholarship meeting. This was the first such meeting of its kind in Ileret after the Covid-19 restrictions were eased.

The meeting was purposely to review the scholarships awarded to the brightest students from Ileret ward who are carefully selected by the TBI community affairs committee. For 2021, there was a total number of 56 students including 44 boys and 12 girls.

The chief guest was Dr. Job Kibii, TBI’s Research Director who also represented the institute’s management. Also in attendance was the chief of Ileret ward Mr. Samuel Siyel, the Ileret ward administrator Mwalimu Koriye, the Catholic Mission Representative Father Emmanuel OSB and women leaders from the community including Madam Jennifer Lonyaman, Rachael Tunu among others.

There were also scholarship alumni that spoke to the students namely, Mrs. Claudia Goosh and Mr. Koriye  who both gave heartwarming and inspirational talks to the students. This was one of the highlights of the review meeting as the students were visibly motivated having been urged to work hard and for the betterment of their future.

In turn, some of the students gave short speeches, pledging to work hard and make the community proud. The event came to a colorful close with prayers from Father Emmanuel and a photo session that was then followed by a hearty meal.
